Discussion of Macro photos for next month's category

  • Extension tubes can be a great option to adapt a non-macro lens for macro photography. I recommend getting a set that passes the electronics through to the lens so you have all control while you are taking a photo. Canon lenses, for instance, have no other way to set aperture.
  • Try experimenting with taking several shots of your subject, with different focus areas throughout each photo. You can then assemble the photos together into a single image using Photoshop Focus Stacking. There are many tutorials about this online.   • We are members of the San Joaquin Valley Camera Club Council. You may enter photos in that competition as well. The website for more information is Mickey is the club representative, and can help answer any questions you may have about that additional competition. Mickey heading down to Selma on Sunday for the meeting this month.


Nominations for new board positions

  • Does anyone have a nomination for any board position? Any board members want to resign their position? Voting will occur during the November meeting if any changes will happen.


Trips and events

  • We had the art walk on 9/22. I had a booth in front of the Grand Theatre and they setup the television for me. We had a pretty sparse booth with no other photos to show. Most were interested in drinking and skipped over the booth, but we did get a little interest from some visitors.
  • Sunday 10/14/2018, 9-4 Mike's Camera Lens & Camera Demo Day at the Sacramento Zoo. Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Sigma, Sony, Panasonic, Tamron, Fuji, ProMaster. Gear "rented" in 1 hour increments (loaned, no cost to try out a new camera, lens, or accessory. They also have large telephoto lenses around the park for you to mount as you visit. Bring a memory card if you intend to borrow a camera!
  • SJVCCC meeting this Sunday.
